I write software for machines. For the last three years I've run a team doing industrial robotics and IoT: ABB and Fairino robots, machine vision, edge hardware. Before that I built for the web, and it still bugs me how much harder hardware is to program than it needs to be.
So I chip away at it. abb-rws-client is a TypeScript client for ABB Robot Web Services. RAPID Live is a VS Code extension that lets you watch and control an ABB robot straight from your editor. Both came out of real production work.
At work my team builds automation cells, lots of them: cobots, industrial robots, vision systems, and the software underneath that touches real hardware, drives it, and diagnoses it. For the companies we build them for, that means fewer manual steps, fewer bad units leaving the line, and machines that keep working after everyone goes home. These days most of my thinking goes to physical AI, getting learned models to run on actual robots.
Outside work I carry a Fujifilm and switch between four languages, sometimes mid-sentence.
